Good stuff. 15kgs would be ideal. Is that including your rifle, binos etc?

Just back home after a flop of a pack hunt. Scrub bashed threw the worst hell hole ive walked through for 6 hours with a overnight stop to not even make it into where I wanted. Pulled the pin 2 hours away from sambar heaven. Not really wanting a 10+ hour mission to get out of there we tucked our tails between our legs and licked our wounds on the way back the the 4by. Back to the drawing board for a different way in.
So near and yet so far.

Hey lads, first time posting on this page, seems like a ripper so far.

Love pack hunting! Was right into a it a few years ago, had a breather from it for the last couple of years due to mates always pulling out at the last minute 😤 have just got back into it just going solo this year.

The water filtration set up i use is a platypus brand, holds 4 litres of dirty water and gravity feeds through a filter into a clean water bag, works well.

Pack weight usually anywhere between 20-25 kgs, I dont skimp on things because I wanna cut a 100gs out or anything silly like that, I usually take a bottle of JD rather than cans, they're a bit to sweet for me haha.

I done a quick overnighter into an area last weekend that I had never been. Left home around 7am and arrived at the drop off around 930. Was a fairly easy walk in, this time I was only heading in around 5 ks just to get a feel for the place and plan on going in a bit further once I hunt it a few more times.

So set up camp, got some wood together than headed off for an arvo scout around and hopefully see something or even just some sign of what's around. The arvo was awesome! I glassed 5 deer on an opposite face at a guess of around 400-500 metres away, was about 630pm when they started to get about, from what I could see there was a spiker with them but no bigger stag 🤷‍♂️ sat there til i couldn't see any more and headed back to camp for 2 minute noodles and salami 👌.

The morning was shit house! I knew the weather was meant to take a turn but didn't think it was going to be this early ,the wind had swung straight up my arse for most of the morning which was frustrating, but I kept going really at this point just to have a good look around and hopefully run into something. The morning didn't produce any deer but there was some good sign that they are scattered around the area . I covered about 4ks for the morning and made my way back to camp to pack up and head out. All in all was good to get out for a look, hoping to head back in there cup weekend or earlier, cheers lads 🤙

Good write up JG06. I've been planning for a while on getting back into backpack hunting. Better get meself motivated as the longer I leave it the harder its going to be to get this broken down body moving.

I’ll definitely be headed in somewhere in the next 4-6 weeks. Pretty much have the location sorted just need to work out dates. Head in Friday evening out late Sunday over loaded.

Which side of the ANP? Could do a meetup. Was planning on doing a solo, but could link up and conveniently place vehicles to save the legs carrying heads out.
